Samsung will enter a new wearable device market segment and release its first smart Ring later this year, confirms Galaxy Ring at Mobile World Congress 2024. The Korean tech giant is expected to launch a new wearable, the Galaxy Ring at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, which we exclusively revealed should take place in July. Now, the report suggests that the Samsung Galaxy Ring to equip an optional NFC feature.

Galaxy Ring plans to offer NFC as an option
According to @kro_roe, Samsung is reportedly bringing NFC technology to the Galaxy Ring. He also noted that when NFC is used, this functionality will significantly reduce the battery life of the smart ring, taking up a full week.
Previous reports suggest that the Galaxy Ring will be the first Samsung device to sport the new “SM-Q” designation.

Samsung plans to hold its second Unpacked event of the year in early July. Apart from the Galaxy Ring and Galaxy AI, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, the Galaxy Watch 7 and at least one new pair of wireless earbuds will be unveiled at the event.
