However, Google will be implementing the Samsung 4nm process on its next-generation Tensor G4 chip that will be installed in its own Pixel 9 series smartphones. However, the reason behind this decision could be the outstanding performance of the Galaxy S24 series with the Exynos 2400 processor.

Google Pixel 10 Tensor G5 chip is said to be made by TSMC

Evidence shared by AndroidAuthority indicates that TSMC will be manufacturing the Tensor G5 for Google, which could launch alongside the Pixel 10 series. Evidence also suggests that the Pixel 10 may use up to 16GB of RAM, which is 4GB more than the Pixel 8 series RAM.

The report in a public trading database confirms the rumors and provides details on the new chip. The manifest of the Tensor G5 sample chip includes “LGA,” codenamed “Laguna Beach.”

Although Pixel 9 has not been launched yet, it is expected to be launched in October this year. The switch to a TSMC-made SoC for the Pixel 10 series promises improvements for future devices.

Why Google is making the Tensor G5 by TSMC:

TSMC chips are generally known for providing better performance, greater power efficiency, and better heat management. In several tests found on the web, the TSMC-made Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC inside the Galaxy S24 Ultra is better than the Samsung-made Tensor G3 inside the Pixel 8 in benchmark tests like AnTuTu, Geekbench, and GFXBench. TSMC mainly aims at chip manufacturing business only whereas Samsung is one of the many businesses in which Samsung is involved. Perhaps, this may result in different research and development priorities.
