Instagram is testing a new Ad Breaks feature, similar to YouTube

Instagram Ad Breaks

Nobody likes to see ad breaks while watching their favorite entertainment; on one hand, they are unskippable, on the other, they also interrupt the user’s browsing experience. On the flip side, Instagram is testing a new Ad Breaks feature, similar to YouTube, unskippable ads, which will force users to consider leaving the platform forever.

For context, Google’s YouTube also runs in-stream unskippable ads on its videos, which can be up to 60 seconds long in the case of its live TV service YouTube TV. However, users can avoid ads by subscribing to the paid offering of YouTube Premium.

As spotted by Reddit users, Instagram is testing a new feature called Ad Breaks that will be unskippable. It will force users to watch these annoying ads for 3 seconds, which interrupts their browsing experience while scrolling their Instagram feed.

Instagram says that Ad Breaks is a new way to view ads on Instagram. Sometimes you may need to view an ad before you can continue browsing. This could be the company’s new strategy to make more money.

For now, this ad break feature on Instagram is limited to a few users and is currently in the development stage. This shows that Instagram is trying to execute its plan to include these ads within the app, as it can help create more revenue along with other business parameters like in-app purchases and subscriptions.

Now, this feature makes Meta Verified monthly subscriptions available for Instagram users, which can let users get rid of ads on the platform.
