Google launched the standalone Gemini app for Android earlier this year. It was first available in the US and later expanded to over 100 countries. Google Assistant has 12 voices while Google Gemini has just one voice, but that is about to change. People have been requesting the company to add more voices, according to reports Google is quietly working on adding more voices to Google Gemini.

According to @AseembleDebug, the latest beta version of the Gemini app for Android brings a new option in the Gemini settings called ‘Gemini Voice’. He also points out that currently, tapping on this option opens a blank page. However, Google may add some voice options to this section in the coming days or weeks. Plus, it suggests that Gemini will soon get voice options, similar to the Google Assistant.
Additionally, according to Android Authority, the latest beta version of the Google app for Android (15.24.28.29.arm64 beta) offers a new option called ‘Voice Selection’ in General Settings.
Moreover, the description of this option is as follows, “Choose which voice should be preferred for speech responses for Search.” This means that you will be able to select a voice for speech responses to searches. Currently, Google offers two voices for Gemini, one for English, called ‘Ruby’, and one for German, called ‘River’.

It is worth noting that the ‘Voice Selection’ menu neither mentions Google Assistant nor Gemini, so it is not clear which voice assistant the voice options here refer to. It is assumed that this option allows you to set the same voice for Google Assistant and Gemini, which we think is a great feature.

As always, there is no information about when Google will make the ‘Gemini Voice’ option in the Gemini app and the ‘Voice Selection’ option in the Google app available to the general public, but it is possible that these options will be made available in the next few months.
