Google is rolling out Gemini AI support for the Google Messages app on Android following a rollout for other apps like Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, and Drive. The Gemini 1.5 Pro AI model will be used to perform tasks like draft messages, fun conversations, event planning, etc. within the Messages app.

Users can now ask questions to the chatbot directly from the Google SMS app, following soon after the integration of Meta AI into WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and other apps.
The availability of Gemini in the Messages app has made it easier for users to access the AI chatbot. Some gadgets even allow Gemini to replace the default Google Assistant. Previously, it only existed as a standalone app or website.
However, an internet connection will be required to use Gemini AI. This feature is currently available to a limited number of users and may be available to all users later.
With the latest update, Android users can now experience the power of AI through the default messaging app by selecting New Chat and experience the convenience of AI through the app in the default messaging app by selecting Gemini.
