New feature in Google Photos’ video editor lets you adjust the playback speed of your videos

Although it might not have as many features as a dedicated video editing program, Google Photos‘ built-in video editor is nevertheless a feature for the majority of users. It has every tool you could need for simple modifications like cropping or adding effects, and it might soon acquire another useful feature that lets you adjust the speed at which your films play. As per the report, the video editor’s new cool feature in Google Photos version 6.90 is to offer you an early peek, even though it’s not live in the current version of the app.

The feature is a part of the built-in editor in Google Photos under the Video menu. It appears as a “1x” symbol next to the video mute, enhance, and stabilize buttons. When the icon is tapped, a new user interface appears, with the video preview at the top and a timeline and many playing speed settings below. You can use the timeline to choose the appropriate replay speed for the full video or just a selected portion.

The function offers five playback speed options: 1/4x, 1/2x, 1x, 2x, and 4x. You can save the video by tapping the Done button located in the bottom right corner after you’re happy with the outcome.

The capability is rather basic and does not allow you to change the speed at which two or more video segments play again at the same time. But you should be able to accomplish that by saving the movie after making changes to one part of it, then editing the final version of the film to make adjustments to another part. However, since Google is still working on the feature and might add more capabilities by the time it’s released to users, you might not need to resort to that.
