Android 14 QPR3 Beta 2.1 is out with bug fixes

Google has released Android 14 QPR3 beta 2.1, which brings a list of bug fixes for supported Pixel smartphones. This minor firmware update comes just a month after the release of QPR3 beta 2 of Android 13. If you participated in the Android QPR beta program, you may have received the update over the air.

Similar to the Android 13 QPR3 beta, Pixel users are understandably disappointed to see Samsung take the lead on the April 2024 security patch deployment. Not surprisingly, the latest Android 14 QPR3 beta 2.1 build also lacks the April 2024 patch but brings of the March 2024 update.

Google runs Android 14 QPR beta to prepare for future Pixel feature drop updates. As part of its quarterly feature drops, the company tests new features and brings optimizations to the beta channel before distributing them on the stable channel.

Android 14 QPR3 beta 2.1 releases and includes the next round of improvements like bug fixes and stability and performance improvements. You can install Android 14 QPR3 Beta 2.1 on any of the following Google Pixel devices:

  • Pixel 5a
  • Pixel 6 and 6 Pro
  • Pixel 6a
  • Pixel 7 and 7 Pro
  • Pixel 7a
  • Pixel Fold
  • Pixel Tablet
  • Pixel 8 and 8 Pro

The release also brought some underlying changes to give Pixel users a better user experience. The following issues are fixed in QPR3 Beta 2.1:

Android 14 QPR3 Beta 2.1 (April 2024)

This minor update to Android 14 QPR3 Beta 2 includes the following fixes:

  • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused a device’s launcher to crash when trying to view recent apps. (Issue #328803294)
  • Fixed an issue that sometimes prevented Pixel Tablet devices from charging while connected to the dock. (Issue #299800125)
  • Fixed an issue where swiping up from the bottom of the screen didn’t always return to the home screen.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the layout of notifications on the lock screen to display with additional padding.
  • Fixed various issues that were causing frequent “Application not responding” errors for both system and user apps.
  • Fixed an issue where swiping down from the top of the screen didn’t always show the notification shade.
  • Fixed an issue for Pixel Fold devices where sometimes when the device was unfolded, only half of the inner screen displayed content.
  • Fixed an issue that sometimes prevented a user’s wallpaper settings from being backed up properly.
  • Fixed an issue that sometimes stopped the “Quick Tap to start actions” gesture from working.
  • Fixed various other issues that were impacting system stability, performance, connectivity, interactivity, and camera.
