Google is now blessing its Pixel handsets with the Android 15 Beta 2.2 release. The latest beta update is holding another set of bug fixes over the previous build. Most of these improvements are related to the system’s Private space, NFC, and stability aspects.

According to the inputs, Android 15 Beta 2.2 is rolling out with the AP31.240426.023.B4 version. Alongside the bug fixes and significant optimizations for the Pixel devices, the update accompanies the May 2024 patch to enhance the system security and prevent harmful malware.

Moving on to the bug fixes, the list begins with the solution for a troubling issue that often restricted users from completing where creating a private space on a device for the first time removing app icons from the Home screen.

Pay attention! this fix is not backward compatible. Hence, users need to take the following steps to opt out of the beta schedule:

Initially, update the device to the new version – Android 15 Beta 2.2 via the OTA update notification, or by downloading an OTA image and then applying it manually.

  • Fixed remaining issues where creating a private space on a device for the first time removed app icons from the Home screen (or Home screens if more than one Home screen had been added). (Issue #340868295)
  • Fixed an issue with the Wallet role that prevented NFC payments from functioning in some cases. (Issue #340933949)
  • Fixed an issue where the app drawer didn’t open when swiping up. (Issue #335798568)
  • Fixed an issue with NFC observe mode that prevented NFC payments from processing in some cases.
  • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused videos that were recorded using 10-bit HDR to have a green tint.
  • Fixed various other issues that were impacting system stability, interactivity, and connectivity.

The update is live for Pixel devices including Pixel 8a, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7, Pixel 6a, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6, Pixel Fold, and Pixel Tablet. If you are already enrolled in the Android Beta program, the firmware will automatically roll out to your device via the OTA method.
