Android 15 Developer Preview 1 expected to launch this week

For the record, the first developer previews of Android 14 and Android 13 were launched around the same time in their respective years, so Google is late with Android 15. Now rumor has it that it will be quite meaningful to see the DP1 launch this week.

According to the information, plans are reportedly being made to launch the first DP of Android 15 this week. It will likely include new features, improvements, and bug fixes that will be expanded into several beta versions before the final release later this year, which is expected to be released in August or September 2024.

According to Googler’s Android Open-Source Project (AOSP) comment, the plan is to release Android 15 DP1 on Thursday, February 15. As spotted by 9to5Google, the comment in question refers to Android 15 as “Android V.” Which alphabet character is described for the next version of Android? Android 15’s internal codename is “Vanilla Ice Cream,” but we expect Google to refer to it publicly as Android 15.

Those enrolled in the Android 14 beta program will have to wait until the beta versions are launched, which are more stable and suitable for public testing. However, the preview will not be available for non-Pixel devices. As always, only Pixel devices will be eligible to install it.

On the other hand, other smartphone brands like Samsung, OnePlus, Realme, and OPPO will also release Android 15-based updates for their devices after Google launches the new version of Android.
