Chrome for Android may soon support copying and saving video frames

Google Chrome for Desktop/PC allows you to copy frames from the video to the clipboard or save it to your device, making it easy for you to take frames from the video and use them for various purposes, like Sharing with or using it. To use this functionality you simply need to right-click on a video and select the ‘Copy video frame’ or ‘Save video frame as’ option. Now, Google is working on bringing similar functionality to Google Chrome for Android.

According to an update posted on X by code spy @Leopeva64, the ability to copy and save video frames to Google Chrome on Android is in the works. However, the code indicates that the function has not been authorized to go live yet. Specifically, there’s a note that says it should be marked as disabled until Google greenlights the feature.

With that note in mind, Google could get this function to a beta version of the web browser in the next few weeks, and make it open to the public a few months later after intensive testing. The ability to copy and save frames in video of Google Chrome for Android can be very useful for many people, and it may soon become one of the best features of the web browser. We hope Microsoft also starts working on offering this functionality with the Edge web browser.
