Android 14 brings native support for satellite connectivity for messages, and OnePlus phones may be among the first to get the feature, after Google. Even though Google has had it for over a year and a half now, the adoption of smartphone satellite connectivity on Android flagships launched outside China has been surprisingly weak. A new report suggests that OnePlus may be considering bringing satellite connectivity to future smartphones.

According to reliable smartphone enthusiast 1NormalUsername (via), some interesting strings were spotted in the Settings app present on the latest Android 15 beta release on the OnePlus 12: suggestions that it contains a reference to a satellite connectivity mobile phone.

For your information, Oppo launched the Find X7 Ultra Satellite Edition in China a few weeks ago, so OnePlus may launch its Satellite Edition. Similar to the OnePlus 12 Android 15 beta, Oppo’s company name is mentioned in the corresponding string in the Settings app present on the latest Android 15 beta release for the Oppo Find N3:

As we know so far, OnePlus has no plans to have satellite connectivity for the OnePlus 13. It remains to be seen whether it will be offered on future OnePlus devices or not. According to the report, there is a possibility that OnePlus may offer satellite Edition phone but will limit it to China.
