A Samsung official from the Netherlands has revealed on LinkedIn that the Enterprise edition of the Galaxy Tab Active 5 will get 8 years of software support, which includes Android OS upgrades, security updates, and regular fix updates. This means that your upcoming Tab Active 5 will be supported all the way till 2032.
No major smartphone brand offers this committed level of support and longevity. This makes these phones a more durable smartphone option as they will remain protected and perform well for up to eight years. Worth mentioning, the Galaxy Tab Active 5 went official as early as January this year, and the standard non-enterprise model is only guaranteed four major OS updates and five years of security updates.
Before now, Samsung promised five years of security updates for enterprise editions of those devices. But this is the first time that the Korean tech giant has committed to both extended OS and security updates for Enterprise Edition devices. The commitment is limited to Enterprise Edition tablets – phones like the recently launched Galaxy Xcover 7 get the same seven-year policy as the Galaxy S24.
The Enterprise edition of the Galaxy Tab Active 5 launched with the new Android 14-based One UI 6.0 and will get 8 years of software support. The company will also extend hardware support to match the software commitment and make parts available for eight years. Result?
