Galaxy Z Fold 6 will get Android and One UI updates for seven years! report

Galaxy Z Fold 6 Android updates

Recent rumors indicate that Samsung is preparing the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra, a surprise upgrade that will offer premium specifications in favor of a higher price. Meanwhile, a new leak claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will also be offered with 7 years of Android and security updates.

To recall, Samsung shipped the Galaxy S24 series with 7 years of Android and security updates, now the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will also be the second in the lineup to offer the same upgrade support. Let’s see the complete details.

According to information from @TheGalox_, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will receive software updates for seven years after launch as part of the company’s environmental sustainability efforts. That’s an extra three years compared to existing Galaxy foldable and mid-range phones.

Previous leaks also indicated that the Galaxy Z Flip 6 will come with an Android 7 OS upgrade.

Those upcoming updates will include new versions of Android and One UI and new security patches. Since the Galaxy Z Fold 6 lineup comes with Android 14-based One UI 6.1.1 out of the box, Android 21, or whatever Google is calling the operating system at the time, will be its last OS upgrade.

However, it’s worth pointing out that longer software support will mean that future Android and One UI versions won’t bring much change to the Samsung Galaxy foldable.

The full seven years of software support will fit Google’s latest update commitments, and while Apple doesn’t explicitly describe how often its phones will get iOS software, it should make Galaxy foldable phones more competitive than iPhones in terms of longevity.
