Google Photos integration into the stock Gallery app on OnePlus and Xiaomi devices.

I was really impressed by OnePlus and Xiaomi, who are constantly improving on their solid foundation. In the latest version of the Android 14 update, the option to integrate Google Photos into the stock Gallery app on OnePlus and Xiaomi devices has been added.

According to the support page, Google says that this functionality is currently supported on Xiaomi, OnePlus, OPPO, and Realme devices running Android 11 or newer. Android Police, on the other hand, points out that Xiaomi’s integration is a bit deeper, allowing full two-way sync, including albums, which other manufacturers’ implementations don’t sync.

On the flip side, the brand’s built-in Photos app in OnePlus phones now supports integration with Google Photos, which is available as a part of the OxygenOS 14-based Android 14 update. This is located through the app’s Settings, with the option “Backup with Google Photos” visible at the top of the screen. Tapping on this starts a menu in Google Photos where you are requested to grant access.

Once connected, you can not only back up photos but also access your entire Google Photos library from the stock Gallery apps of Xiaomi and OnePlus.

How to remove Google Photos Access:

With Xiaomi, OnePlus, OPPO, and Realme devices, the integration can be disabled through the app or Google Photos. You can remove access by going to Google Photos > Photos Settings > Apps & Devices > Google Photos Access.
