According to Android Authority, Google has now updated the Play Store with a new payment option called ‘Ask someone else to pay’. As the name indicates, this new feature lets you ask someone else to pay for the item or service you are purchasing from the app distribution platform.

  • On the payment page, ‘Ask someone else to pay’ will appear as the last payment option.
  • Once you pick it, the app will show the ‘Share Payment Link’ button. Once you tap on it, the platform will generate a link that you can copy and send to anyone.

Additionally, payment links can be shared using the Android Share Sheet. The person who opens it has 24 hours to make the payment, after which the link will automatically expire. Google has said that the feature will be available originally to people living in India, but it is still unclear when and how the feature will be expanded to other regions.
