Google released the first Android 15 developer preview on February 16, and the second (2) has been released today. It still doesn’t have any public betas, the first of them is coming in April. The latest Android 15 dev preview also brings long-awaited support for satellite connectivity, as well as improvements to volume stability and contactless NFC payments.
Moving toward the details, the Android 15 DP2 for eligible Pixel devices has arrived with build version AP31.240223.016.A3 and brings the March 2024 Android security update and Google Play services 24.08.12.
These developer-focused previews and betas are a proving ground for features that will likely make it into the final public release, scheduled for August 2024. According to the information, the public beta release should be available for testing between April and July.
On the other hand, other Android smartphone manufacturers except Samsung may release an Android 15 beta update for their flagship smartphones in May 2024. Samsung may release the One UI 7 beta update sometime in August when Android 15 will be released in stable.
The Android 15 developer preview 2 is bringing long-awaited support for satellite connectivity along with contactless payments, multi-language recognition, volume stability, and several improvements to interactions with PDFs through apps.
The smaller cover screens on flip phones with Android 15 DP2 should also be more useful, as developers get direct access to more ways to interact with them.
