OnePlus 9R grips new OxygenOS security update in February 2024

Following the release of OnePlus 10R, OnePlus is rolling out the January and February 2024 security updates for OnePlus 9R users in India. The patch improves the stability and security of the devices, as well as fixes various vulnerabilities.

February 2024 and January 2024 updates is available for the OnePlus 9R OxygenOS 13.1 and OxygenOS 14 models in India and can be identified by following firmware versions.

  • January 2024 update: LE2101_14.0.0.301(EX01)
  • February 2024 update: LE2101_13.1.0.586(EX01)

The February 2024 security update changelog does not mention any other implications. However, the February 2024 patch aims to fill in the gaps that could be gateways for unnamed bugs and issues. It also improves stability as well as performance aspects, making the device more reliable. As usual, the update is being rolled out in batches in India. Therefore, it may take some time to cover all models.

On the other hand, the January 2024 update extends battery life in certain scenarios and fixes an issue where the fingerprint icon could remain on the screen even when the device is unlocked. Additionally, both patches have removed the background stream feature in the Smart Sidebar.

As always, the rollout comes in batches and may take some time to cover all OnePlus 9R devices in India. It’s possible that the firmware may not reach some owners immediately. In that case, we suggest you go to the Settings menu and manually install the update.
