OnePlus ended software support for the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro, no more OxygenOS/Android update

OnePlus recently released OxygenOS 13.1.0.587 update for OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. The latest update brings the April 2022 security patch. The OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro are obtaining their last OxygenOS update in India, marking the end of their software update support.

OnePlus 8 software support ended

OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro launched back in 2020, will not be getting any more software updates, the company has confirmed. OnePlus has already provided there major Android updates and 4 years of security patches to these devices. The OxygenOS 13.1.0.587 update version for the OnePlus 8 series will be the final stable version for the respective smartphones, the company has confirmed.

This update includes the Android security patch for April 2024 and improves the stability of mobile performance.

OnePlus Says “As you might have been aware, with the release of OxygenOS 13.1.0.587, we’ve officially fulfilled our lifecycle maintenance promise for the OnePlus 8/8Pro.”

Back in 2022, the company extended its software support for the latest launched flagship devices. Starting OnePus 11, the devices will get 4 years of major Android OS updates and 5 years of security patches.

However, as per OnePlus’ previous software update policy, its flagship devices get four years of software updates, which has been done for the OnePlus 8 series. Unfortunately, the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 8T will not be eligible for the new software update from next year.
