Earlier, OnePlus launched a new artificial intelligence (AI) eraser image editing feature for smartphone users. The AI Erase feature has already been released for OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 12R and is gradually being rolled out to OnePlus devices including OnePlus 11, OnePlus Open, and OnePlus Nord CE 4. Meanwhile, OnePlus and Oppo also plan to roll out new features based on it—the Gemini AI 1.0 Ultra platform on their smartphones later this year.

At the Google Cloud Next ’24 event, Oppo and OnePlus have announced that Google’s Gemini Ultra will be integrated into their smartphones. Both Chinese smartphone brands are aiming to be the first to launch features based on the Gemini Ultra platform on smartphones later this year.
Additionally, Oppo and OnePlus have also assured that they will work to ensure the right mix of hardware, operating system, and ecosystem for better integration of mobile AI. Oppo and OnePlus smartphones later this year will be able to use AI for a range of tasks including summarizing news articles, summarizing audio, and generating new social media content.
OnePlus has already introduced AI Eraser, which enables users to easily select and remove unwanted objects within images, directly from their photo gallery. However, the AI Eraser is powered by OnePlus and Oppo’s AndiGPT LLM, not Gemini AI.
Nicole Zhang, general manager of AI products at OPPO and OnePlus, also announced that OPPO and OnePlus have already introduced several Generative AI models to over ten million users in China, including those using OPPO Find X7 and OnePlus 12.
