Oppo isn’t exiting the foldable phone market

OnePlus Open OxygenOS 14

Recently, a rumor not only claimed that Oppo is abandoning foldable phones because it is not seeing much demand, but Vivo’s name was also taken in that rumor with the same claim that it will no longer make foldable phones. Oppo has now denied the rumor on record, saying it is committed to making foldable phones.

However, this is not so. It’s happening, that is. At least when it comes to Oppo. The company has spoken to GSMArena to refute the above rumor and assures that its commitment towards the development of future foldable has not changed in any way. This is good news and also a reason for us to breathe a sigh of relief.

Here is the source statement given by Oppo spokesperson on this matter:

“Oppo’s dedication to the continuous development of foldable smartphone technology remains unchanged. Please stay tuned for our official updates and announcements.” The Chinese tech company has effectively quashed these rumors and assured its fans that the Oppo foldable phones are hitting the market as per schedule.

Although Oppo hasn’t had much success in the foldable space in the developed world, the OnePlus Open was, by many accounts, the best-sized book-style foldable of 2023, so we’ll be sad to see it go to Oppo. We don’t have to do that anymore, and we can look forward to the upcoming OnePlus Open 2 and Find N4 Flip.
