Oppo plans to roll out generative AI features to around 50 million device users by 2024

Oppo plans to make AI available on smartphones across all price points by the end of 2024. The Chinese tech giant set up an AI R&D center in Shenzhen in February to develop proprietary AI technologies and is partnering with industry partners from Google, MediaTek, and IDC for AI features on devices.

According to the information, Oppo is bringing generative AI to all Oppo smartphone product lines such as the Find series, Reno series, F series, and A series, as it resolves to make AI phones accessible to everyone.

“With our relentless efforts and commitment, OPPO aims to make AI phones accessible to everyone, ” said Billy Zhang, President of Overseas MKT, Sales and Service at OPPO. “For the first time in the industry, OPPO is bringing generative AI to all product lines. By the end of this year, we expect to bring generative AI features to about 50 million users.”

Oppo has said it will introduce over 100 generative AI features on its phones by 2024 and holds over 5,399 AI patents worldwide. Oppo is also partnering with a handful of tech manufacturers to enhance the AI ​​capabilities of its smartphones. Oppo’s flagship line will integrate Google’s Gemini family of large language models (LLMs), enabling features such as AI Writer and AI Recording Summary.

In addition, the company is working with Microsoft to improve voice and text conversion using Microsoft Fast Transcription and Neural TTS technology. Furthermore, they are developing chipsets with dedicated AI processing units (NPUs) and accelerators for better performance and efficient AI processing.
