Reading Mode app on Android now expanded to Gmail and some social media apps

In 2020, Google released its Reading Mode app and now the company has made the Reading Mode app quite useful. With this new update, the Reading Mode app will work in Gmail as well as some social media applications. Social media application includes X, (formerly Twitter), and Threads along with other social media as well.

As noticed by Artem Russakovsky, the Reading Mode app is now working with emails in the Gmail app for Android based devices. 9to5Google was also able to get the Reading Mode app’s features to work on Threads and X (formerly known as Twitter).

If we talk about what the Reading Mode app can do, this app simplifies the text of every page so that you can read it easily, along with that it also converts every viewed page into plain text. As mentioned above, this latest firmware comes with reading mode app support for Gmail, X, Threads and other email and social media apps which is a nice and useful thing.

However, the Reading Mode developers note that the app may not work well with all social media and email apps, but it will probably get the job done. Plus, the app can read it out loud and listening is a better option if you’re on the go.

Notably, the Reading Mode app doesn’t work with Google Messages or PDFs, so there’s still room for improvement. However if you are looking for an alternative to Google Assistant’s “read aloud” functionality, the Reading Mode app will serve you well.
