According to new supply chain reports this morning we learned that Samsung Display, BOE and Tianma have proposed their prices to Apple for OLED panels for the iPhone SE4, which will be launched in early 2025 using LCD panels.
As per the previous segment, Apple has only used LCD panels for its budget iPhone line so far, but it plans to upgrade to OLED next year.
According to TheElec, three reputed manufacturers including Samsung, BOE, and Tianma have offered their prices to Apple for OLED panels that will be used in the upcoming iPhone SE 4.
As per the leak, Samsung Display proposed a unit price of US$30; BOE offered US$35 and Tianma offered US$40 and Apple is countering with US$20 and their negotiations are still ongoing. In which Samsung is ahead of BOE, while the third one does not appear to be a serious contender.
As we know, the OLED panel for the iPhone SE 4 will likely be the same one used in the iPhone 14 and iPhone 13. Therefore, display suppliers who would ever receive orders from Apple would not have to make additional investments in research. and development.
According to the report, Samsung Display is focusing more on more profitable OLED panels for the iPhone 15 series and iPhone 16 series launching later this year, making it possible for BOE to lower OLED panel prices compared to the iPhone SE4.
