According to a tweet from SponsorBlock, YouTube is testing server-side ad injection. This suggests that ads are being added directly to the video stream. Using this method, YouTube virtually combines ad segments within the video and provides viewers with the complete package instead of combining them from two sources on your browser or app.
YouTube goal of cracking down on ad blockers is understandable. Google’s business model is heavily dependent on ads, and ads also help pay creators who make videos on the platform.
Of course, if you want to support your favorite channels and creators, you should consider allowing ads on YouTube, as many creators rely on YouTube as their sole source of income. If you want to watch ad-free videos, you should sign up for a premium membership.

This new feature is still in the development stage, some users have already noticed this feature/issue. However, it is yet to be widely rolled out by the company. YouTube probably won’t give out the facts about what’s going on behind this feature, but it would be interesting to know how entries are handled and what changes Google had to implement in its ad-serving structure.
